These plates are made of kaolin (a special kind of white, purified clay, a.k.a. the China Clay). They are fired at temperatures in the range of about 850°C to 900°C and glazed. The glaze proctects the drawings and the dye from outside effects such as oxygen, light, etc. For this reason, nothing happens to the vivid colors of the plates even after centuries. The dye Turan Duru uses is a natural dye extracted from soil, which is not solved in the water and be able to last virtually forever. He uses the underglaze technique for painting his pieces of art.
These plates can be hung on the wall or put on the surface for decoration.
Custom made plates are also produced by Turan Duru.
